HOW TO CONNECT MAILCHIMP WITH WOOCOMMERCE WORDPRESS AND SHOPIFY STORE

MailChimp is one of the leading email marketing service provider platform that you can use to handle every aspect of your email marketing campaign and promotion works including Newsletter design, Audience development, E-commerce Workflow series including Abandon cart to email, Product retargeting email, Win-back lapsed customers, Rewarding best customers and lots more.

One of the main reasons why I prefer MailChimp mostly over other ESP’s providers like Getresponse, Aweber and others are mainly because it provides free lifetime usability with complex Email marketing features that are most essential to carry out any email marketing work.

In this article, you’ll learn the step by step guide and methods you can use to connect or rather integrate your MailChimp account with your Woocommerce or Shopify Store. If you’re not familiar with how Woocommerce works, I am gonna explain a bit.

Basically, to develop and set up your store, the two leading platforms are WordPress and Shopify. Now, talking about WordPress, it’s basically a CMS (Content Management System) platform that allows you to set up and create your website or store. But WordPress is just a Website builder which doesn’t come with an E-commerce feature. (An e-commerce store is any website whereby you can make a purchase directly from it). So, how can you set up a store using WordPress when it doesn’t actually have such a feature. All you have to do is to install Woocommerce plugin on your WordPress website and set up your products and store. Now, you’ll be able to turn your WordPress website into an e-commerce store. Moreover, Shopify is basically created to set up for online store owners.

Connecting Your MailChimp with Your Woocommerce WordPress Website

The first thing you have to do is to create an audience list on your MailChimp account. Unfortunately, Mailchimp only provides one Audience list for free users which means you’ll only be able to use your free account for one business at a time. In order for you to connect your MailChimp with your multiple businesses, you’ll need to upgrade your MailChimp account.

From your MailChimp dashboard, click on your profile. From your profile, you’ll need to click on Connected sites. Now, you’ll be able to see a list of Website builders available from MailChimp. Locate WordPress and Click on it. Basically, this is where you’ll choose the platform that your website was developed on. Now, you’ll have to select the audience list and you’ll be asked to provide your website URL. Copy your website link and paste in the column. NB: Make sure your website link is valid and starts with either Http, https or www.

The next step is to click on connect. Now, you’ll be given a snippet code by MailChimp which you’ll be asked to put inside your website file. You can easily install the code on your WordPress website in basically two ways.

Method 1: installing the snippet code directly on your website theme file

Method 2: Using external plugins

I’ll only advise using method 1 if only you have a bit of knowledge in HTML and CSS. If not, just use the method 2 approaches because any slight mistake in pasting or deleting any of the code from the theme file can make your website to malfunction.

 To install the snippet code directly on your website theme file, you’ll need to locate your theme file from your WordPress Admin dashboard. Click on Appearance then Theme Editor. Locate the theme header and paste the snippet code before the closing of the </head> file. Click on Update and publish.

For the second method, you’ll need to go to the admin backend of your WordPress website and install the “header and footer plugin”. To do that, on your WordPress website dashboard, go to plugins and click on “add new plugins”. Now, search for header and footer plugin. Now, you’ll need to install the plugin and activate it. You can locate the plugin from the settings menu. Now, paste the MailChimp snippet code directly in the header column and click on publish.

Now, from your MailChimp account, click on check connection and if the code is properly installed on your WordPress website, MailChimp will verify your website successfully.
